Salute to the brave

16th November 2007

This week I tabled 14 Early day Motions in parliament listing the names, ranks and home towns of all those who have died serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Tragically, the EDM's are already out of date with the death of Captain John McDermid of The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, who was killed in southern Afghanistan.  This takes the death toll of servicemen and women in Afghanistan and Iraq to 255 - equaling that of the Falklands War.
