A delighful event in the warm September sunshine.

The 60th Anniversary of Pakistan Independence was celebrated in Newport today at Maindee School. The chief guest was Wales first Minister Rhodri Morgan, plus MP Jess Morden, AMs Rosemary Butler and Mohammed Ashgar, Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Cilla Davies Chairperson Gwent Police Authority and Chief Superintend Kevin Price.

The event was  described as a Mela and was organised by the Pakistan

association of Newport and Gwent.
